Michelle Watson is the founder and creative director of the high-end, fashion forward sportswear brand, MICHI. She is a graduate from the world-renowned Parsons School of Design in New York as well as the prestigious Richard Ivey School of Business in London, Canada. Michelle has worked on the design team of several reputable brands including: Donna Karan, Kate Spade and RLX Ralph Lauren. In 2010, Michelle founded MICHI. The rapidly growing active lifestyle label now resides in Toronto where both its design and manufacturing center are located.
Michelle comes from a strong athletic background. Her British grandmother and father taught her how to golf as soon as she was old enough to hold a club. She grew up competing at the international level in golf and ski racing; she is also a dancer and enjoys martial arts. While choosing to pursue life as a professional athlete was an option for Michelle, her true calling laid in her unique ability to combine the close relationship she held with both sports and fashion design.
Inspired by superheroines, boudoir lingerie, iconic fashion designers, art, nature, travel and her mother’s stylish 1970’s Jamaican and British wardrobe, Michelle Watson designs MICHI to empower women in their everyday lives – to be confident, fearless, unique and ultimately, live out their dreams.
