At 49, with a biological age of 29, she’s proof that longevity isn’t about simply living longer—it’s about living better.

We sat down with Elise to talk about style, strength, and shifting our mindset toward self-celebration.



How does the way you dress for a workout impact your energy, mindset, and performance?

What I wear is part of how I embody the energy I want to bring to my movement. When I step into a MICHI set, I immediately feel elevated—strong, feminine, and powerful. My performance always follows my mindset, and when I dress in something that makes me feel confident, supported, and bold, I show up at a higher frequency. How does your personal style reflect your fitness philosophy and your identity as a strong, empowered woman?

My style, like my philosophy, is rooted in strength with femininity, discipline with flow. I gravitate toward pieces that are bold and refined, pieces that allow me to move with both grace and power—because that’s how I live and teach. MICHI mirrors my belief that we don’t have to sacrifice elegance for performance or sensuality for strength. A strong woman leads with both her body and her soul—and her wardrobe can reflect that integration.


How has your fitness journey evolved over the years, and what have been the most transformative moments?

My journey began with movement as a tool for emotional healing more than 30 years ago, but it has evolved into something even more sacred: movement as a portal for vitality, longevity, and self-expression. The most transformative moment was the creation of LAVA—my method that fuses breath, flow, epic strength training, and functional fitness into a ritual of renewal. It’s not about burning out—it’s about lighting up. Now, I move to ignite my energy, not deplete it. And every time I show up in something that makes me feel unstoppable, like MICHI, I’m reminded that how we move is how we live.


What are some practical ways women can shift their mindset from self-criticism to self-celebration?

First, awareness: notice the voice with which you speak to yourself. Then, intention: choose to speak to yourself like someone you deeply love. And finally, embodiment: take daily action that honors your worth. That can look like dressing in clothes that make you feel incredible, choosing workouts that celebrate your body instead of punishing it, or affirming yourself every morning with truth. Self-celebration is a practice. It’s in the way you move, the way you speak, and most of all, the way you choose YOURSELF—again and again.
