Our leggings are designed from the same pattern blocks and made on the body to allow for consistency throughout styles. That being said, certain elements of our leggings can fit differently on different women. We have some tips for you to consider when finding your perfect MICHI legging:
Our waistbands options vary and can contribute to the way a MICHI legging feels and fits on you. Check out The Waistband Report, to find your perfect fit!
Our leggings also vary in length to accommodate the many needs and heights our women have. Our Crop Length Leggings hit mid-calf, and are designed to keep you moving freely. Perfect for indoor workouts or warm days.
⅞ length is designed to sit above the ankle for zero distraction. Some of our women who are less than average height prefer this as a perfect full length option.
If you’re above average height, ⅞ length may hit just below your calf muscle.
Our full length leggings hit just below the ankle for ultimate contouring.
Motoribbing found in styles like the Moto Zip Legging or Strada Legging, have compressive qualities that can hug your knees and/or legs which can give a bit of a tighter feel. Some women love this and some prefer to size up!
Leggings with pockets like the Fusion High Waisted Pocket Legging or Baltic Pocket Legging have an extra layer of fabric for the pocket which can give a tighter feel. We still recommend staying true in size for these types of styles.
Sports bras are tough and easy all at the same time. Fortunately for our MICHI bras, once you find a size that works, you can experience consistency as you look to grow your MICHI sports bra collection. Tips to consider:
Our MICHI sports bras differ in sizing from our crop tops. Crop Tops like the Ignite Crop Top or Glory Crop Top have a bit more give than our bras so treat these how you would normally fit yourself in a workout tank.
Treat the fit of your sports bra how you would fit a regular bra. The larger the cup size, the more recommended it is to go up in sizing. D to DD cup sizing can trust that Large will fit comfortably. We’re working towards expanding our bra sizing!
Our sports bras provide ultimate support for your workouts but do have recommended levels of intensity based on design in the product descriptions. For example, The Siren Bra is reliable and supportive for yoga inversions, but consider The Inversion Bra for your toughest HIIT workout.
Any sports bra with an elastic chest band like the Antigravity Bra, Lotus Bra, and Fusion Bra will give you excellent support for high-intensity workouts.
Zippers found on the Mist Bra and Elektra Bra are reliable with a secure auto lock.
All our bra cups are removable for easy washing and option to keep in or take out. We all have different preferences!
Our Siren Bra is true in size.
Size our jumpsuits like the Siren Jumpsuit how you would generally fit a fitted tank. Our jumpsuits are true in size.
Our cashmere feel styles are made with a cashmere-feel fabric that is cozy and compressive. We recommend considering going a size up if you’re used to our nylon spandex 8-way stretch in styles like the Lotus Crop Legging, or Mist Legging.
Bras like the Glow Bra and Le Mans Bra come with adjustable wrap-around straps because no two torsos are alike!
The Bionic Bra is one of our first core styles which means it’s only available in 3 sizes (small, medium, large). Size up if you’re normally a small and go from there.
Sometimes it’s perfectly okay to take out the tape measure and see where you fit in our SIZE CHART. We promise you we’re working towards a size chart that can include as many women as possible! We’ve included our size chart below but you can also find it here. As consumers, now is the time to start supporting companies and brands that prioritize sustainability and the cutting back of plastic to embrace environmentally-friendly practices. With impactful changes already being made to lifestyles now, simply by utilizing reusable grocery bags, switching to metal straws, or recycling, we need to start thinking about our clothing in the same way.
Style comes and goes but fast fashion is forever… in our landfills, to be specific. The fashion cycle (the life of your clothing from production to destruction) is an important topic to address in today’s society, seeing as it generates such a large portion of the world’s pollution.
Making sustainable fashion choices doesn’t have to be a difficult decision. It’s as simple as asking yourself before you buy something: What sort of impact is my purchase going to make on the environment? Am I buying this item because it’s a need or a want? And, as Marie Kondo would say, “Does this item spark joy?” Here are our tips on sustainability in fashion and how to make better purchases.
MICHI was recently awarded the Butterfly Mark from Positive Luxury, which certifies brands who are dedicated to sustainability company-wide. Researching where you’re buying your clothing, and learning what goes into making them from start to finish, will make you appreciate the pieces that you purchase (and save up for) just that much more.
Consignment shops have become even more popular recently due to the rise of Marie Kondo and her teachings to get rid of whatever does not “Spark joy for you”. There’s also now second-hand clothing stores online like The RealReal and ThredUp that work to make sustainable shopping easier for you and the environment. It’s time to rethink the stereotype that consignment and second-hand stores are dusty and dirty; donating and purchasing from them has ignited growth in the resale market (hey, more options), as well as reduced the purchasing of fast-fashion since many individuals now favor up-cycled items over justifying the need for new ones.
Although it may seem extravagant to purchase a $100 workout top or even a $200+ pair of leggings, think about the factors that go into making up the price (like where and how it was produced, the fibers that are being used, and its quality and craftsmanship). By spending a little extra on a product that you’ll wear for years to come, you may actually save yourself from buying the same inexpensive “trendy” top from a fast-fashion brand every other season.
No matter how tempting a sale might be, ask yourself if you really need what you’re about to buy. Try shopping your own closet first and figuring out what you’re really missing (MICHI leggings, perhaps?) and then only looking for and buying those items when you shop. This is way better than impulse purchases, and will help to save both your wallet and the environment!
By downsizing your closet, you’ll realize just how much “stuff” you really own. This can open your eyes to the impact that we have as consumers, and just how much money is being put towards items that wind up lost in the back of our closets or in eventual landfills. Nowadays, it seems like everyone is rushing from one thing to another with no time for breaks; any form of slowing down is considered “lazy” and if you stop hustling even a moment you’ll lose everything that you’ve ever worked for. Where did this mentality come from?
After researching the power of breath (and learning just how important it is to center yourself and de-stress), it’s been proven that focusing on your breathing can really help to turn your life around. Guaranteed to create a more powerful mind and body, we’ve compiled a handful of breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, and meditation apps to help you slow things down and make you appreciate how the act of inhaling and exhaling can be a way of life—more so than just a way to live.
Pranayama, also called “life force breath”, is a technique used to control the breath and the source of our life force (or prana). This involves breathing evenly and harmoniously with the breath that comes before and after it. This great article by Yoga Journal explains how beginners can achieve and practice this technique, and just how beneficial it can be to your health by doing so.
This breathing exercise is proven to put your body in a state of deep relaxation and is often said to be used to help fall asleep faster. Combat any stress you have by regulating your breathing through this technique: count to four in your head while inhaling through your nose, hold your breath for seven seconds, and then exhale from your mouth in a whoosh for eight seconds. Once you inhale again, you begin a new cycle and this should be repeated at least four times. Read more on this practice from this Headline article!
We mentioned these in our Beat the “Cold” this Winter post, but meditation and mind-centering apps are life changing. Your phone is always on you, so why not use it to positively affect your health? Put away those stressful emails for a moment and download either The Mindfulness App, Headspace or Calm to find guided ways to breathe and meditate. This is a great form of meditation for beginners too!
Whether you’re meditating at work or meditating before bed, sometimes watching a quick video along to can make it easier. Yoga with Adriene is a great YouTube channel to turn to if you’re looking for easy yoga tutorials that target whatever mental state you’re in. This is great to tap into your breath and quality of moment and “find your chill”, this meditation relaxation video of hers in particular is amazing(ly peaceful).
Need even more incentive? The Yoga Journal has proven additional research-backed benefits to mindful breathing such as longer life, better emotional stability, and so much more. Whether it’s meditation, yoga, or simply sitting on your own for a certain amount of time a day, there’s no reason not to want to improve your health by simply starting with the way your breathe.

In the past few months, I've discovered new unbelievable strengths of the female body; specifically, a pregnant body. At first, I was hesitant to be too open about my pregnancy on social media in fear of judgement or worse. However, as my pregnancy progressed, and I was constantly being treated by well-intentioned people to be handicapped, I realized that it was my responsibility to show the world and other women that pregnancy is a superpower, and not a disability. My hope is that by posting stories and photos of my experience, I can help others to understand that a pregnant body is just as strong and capable as anyone else's.

How do you inspire confidence in other women?
My advice to other women out there, is to believe in yourself, if you see a way to achieve it, do it! There are always going to be setbacks in life, and there is always a way out. Love what you do and do what you love and you’ll be able to go further than you can image.

As a classically trained ballet dancer for over 20 years I have been pushed physically and mentally past limits that I thought were impossible. Classical ballet variations, partnering lifts, injury. Ballet is hard and technical and definitely not easy! Yet, when I thought that I wouldn’t be able to overcome an obstacle I would often surprise myself by coming out stronger and better on the other side after some practice, some words or encouragement or even simply just believing in myself. This is what is so incredible about our mind and bodies and the “limits” we place on both. We are often so much stronger than we believe we are.

Winter blues can be a serious downer this time of year. With the weather being so cold you never want to leave your bed (we can strongly relate), motivation levels can be at an all time low.
At MICHI, we recommend turning things around and making this the perfect time for you to dedicate some “me” time for yourself instead. Whether through some much needed winter beauty tips (especially for dry skin), at-home workouts, meditation, winter fashion advice, or fun activities to help get you over this winter “cold”; trust us, we’ll be needing these as much as you do.
For most, this time of year is the worst for our skin. It’s either dry, flaking, tight, or a horrible mix of all three. Remind yourself that there are solutions to help combat and protect your skin against winter weather. In the meantime: try a hydrating sheet mask, especially with hyaluronic acid, or add a face oil to your daily routine to give your skin the much needed moisture boost it needs. It’s the oldest trick in the book, but wearing a scarf and hat can go a long way with preventing breakage in your pores as well as moisturizing after you shower!
Embrace the cold by hitting the slopes this season to take up skiing or snowboarding. Don’t want to book a whole weekend away? Enjoy a more relaxing day of ice-skating at Rockefeller Center or check out any winter event going on in your city. Personally, we’re keen to check out winter markets, cozy live music spots, and even a food and wine tasting to stimulate the senses. We get it. When the patios are closed for the season and parks don’t have nice fresh greenery to lay a blanket over, choosing an activity to do in the winter can be tough. We like finding things to do on apps such as LikeALocal, FieldTrip, DoStuff.
If you can’t bring yourself to bundle up and leave home to brave the cold, then an at-home workout can be the perfect pick-me-up. Add in great music from a strong playlist and you’ll be more than ready to sweat! "We are @FitforFoodies and we’re built on a relationship consisting of the love of wellness and endorphins. The team is comprised of Francia and I, two friends that met on a roommate app in New York City. Although we never lived together we discussed our love of fitness and became lifelong friends. Now we are on a mission to educate our audience on what real food and purposeful fitness should look like."
"The first thing we start off with is a nutritious breakfast. In our takeover we incorporated our favourite juice into the routine. In general we love juicing and making smoothies and try to incorporate it to our weekly routine. We prefer to make our own juice at home rather than buying because we are able to fully control what goes into it and tailor it to our diet and current body needs.
Our favourite juicer for juicing is a masticating juicer because it does not destroy the cellular structure of the fruits and vegetables. This is great because it gets rid of oxidation to the juices and preserves the enzymes and nutrients closest to its natural state. Francia has the Omega j8008 juicer and I have the Aobosi juicer. Other brands we love are Greenstar Juicer and Aicok, but they can be a bit pricey so it depends on your budget and what you're looking for.
One of our favourite juice recipes is a carrot, celery and beet leaves juice. This delicious juice is a nutritional powerhouse and the best juice to cleanse the body. Carrots are highly nutritious and cleansing due to their high fiber content. Beet leaves/greens carry more minerals, vitamins, and fiber than beetroot (except for the folate vitamin), and they are low in calories, fat, and sugar. They’re great for boosting the immune system. Celery purges the liver of toxins and poisons. Ginger helps fight inflammation and helps with digestion."

"Right after our juice we decided to head to the gym for some strength training. The routine we opted for in our takeover was to start off the workout with 10 minutes of jumping rope (with ankle weights!) We love getting cardio in before a weight training session to boost our heart rate high and improve our coordination. Adding ankle weights boosts the intensity of the move and paired with high knees or jumping jacks while jump roping you get a leg workout in.
The next move we did was side leg lunge into a side lung using gliders. We love glider discs for low impact stability improvement moves and it really helps get you deep into that lunge. We opted for 10 reps on each side. On the tenth rep we pulsed for 10 seconds in the lunge and side lunge."
"After that comes the clean and press using a dumbbell. This is a fantastic move because it’s a complete full body move. Try upping the weight on this one to get the added benefit. Don’t worry if you think you can lift heavy above your head, the movement is propelled by your glutes which is an added bonus! Try doing 10 to 15 reps per side—you’ll thank us later! To finish off the gym portion of the workout we did 15 slam ball burpees. This is an absolute cardio move but also targets the should legs and core!"

We want to offer an extending hand to make sure your costume looks just as legit as the next person while preserving wit, originality, and trend-forward thinking. After all, we do not condone the white bedsheet-over-your-head approach as an easy way out.
Nothing a quick Skeleton Stencil can’t fix to make the effect of a Skeleton costume come to life. It’s fair to say Ashley doesn’t hold back when it comes to what motivates her every day. Ashley’s story begins in a small First Nations community where life wasn’t easy. Despite numerous challenges throughout her life, she succeeded in overcoming adversity to build herself into a champion and into a big source inspiration to others. She’s determined, humble, disciplined and as powerful her '8 Weapons'.
Here’s what Ashley has to say about discipline, overcoming obstacles, and the best hype song you can listen to before entering the ring.
To be a champion of your caliber, it takes discipline and commitment. What is your training schedule like?
Training consists of strength/resistance, conditioning/cardio, wrestling, shoot boxing, Brazilian Jiu jitsu, and Muay Thai, with the occasional boxing.
What motivates you?
Being an inspiration for First Nations communities, my family and loved ones through my journey in Muay Thai and MMA, and for other fighters in the community, and for my team. Also, the journey to evolve as a person and fighter and put on exciting performances in the cage or ring plus the motivation to challenge myself by facing the best in the world.
Usually successful people have contradictory personality traits. What are some of your personality traits that have helped you become a champion?
1. The decision to become more and build more than what I was or what I had growing up. We do the best we can with what we were given and I want to continue to improve as a person in the ring and in life.
2. Discipline to continue to train and out the effort forward everyday. In the past I thought if I won titles it would prove my self worth. It made me really driven but later I realized it isn't the titles won which defines our worth, but the love in our hearts for self and others. It’s the value we can bring to others’ lives which will help make the difference. It’s important to find lessons in mistakes or losses, and use them as motivation to evolve, grow, and learn. That’s my drive to challenge myself while aiming to compete with the best in the world.
What is the biggest challenge or obstacle you have overcome?
My biggest challenges and obstacles have been rising above adversities like alcoholism, drugs, suicide, poverty, and domestic violence. I have worked on myself to overcome these by choosing not to follow the same path. I am still a work in progress but I know how I want to live my life, choosing to live a sober, spiritual, and healthy lifestyle.

Over the years this has changed. Stepping up my diet game, now my favourite cheat food is vegan nachos or dark chocolate.
Pre-fight pump up song?
I'll listen to a couple genres mostly rap and house and then for my walk out A Tribe Called Red is my choice.

Over the last few years, we’ve seen the influence of the fashion industry on tennis apparel, blurring the lines of a once strict all-white dress code for the sport. Unlike Wimbledon, where players must adhere to traditional tennis whites, the US Open allows tennis pros the freedom to express their own personal style. The NYC tournament, which starts August 27th and continues to September 9th, will be sure to have some hype around favoured winners as well as tennis trends which we can’t wait to see.
The powerhouse athlete was busy slaying her match in Thailand this past week, but took the time to share with us her excitement for the upcoming 2018 US Open and how MICHI’s tennis collection has become her sportswear staple.
MICHI: How did you feel in your MICHI outfit?
JULIA: I absolutely loved playing in my MICHI tennis set, and the fabric feels really nice on the body. It felt really comfortable while I was playing, running around and sweating.
It’s important for me to feel and look good in my outfit when I’m out there, and I appreciated both the fit and the style. I received great positive feedback from the other girls at the last tournament I played.
MICHI: How would you style or accessorize a court ready outfit for the 2018 US Open?
JULIA: Looking and feeling good on the court is something that’s important to me during a game. I like tucking my shirt into my skirt when I play; I think it gives the outfit a little “kick”. I love having my hair up in a braid and sometimes I’ll add a visor. I also always have sweatbands on both my wrists!
MICHI: What are your goals at this year’s 2018 US Open?
JULIA: I’m very excited to play the US Open. It’s my favourite grand slam, since I’ve always played well there. It was the tournament where I had my first grand slam win and my first big result, reaching the third round from qualifying. This year, my goal is to qualify the three rounds to the main draw!
MICHI: Do you have a fashion icon on or off the court?
JULIA: I love fashion! Vogue Magazine and Harper's Bazaar are my travel essentials. Naming just one fashion icon is tough. I would say, Coco Chanel, but is that too obvious? Kate Moss would also definitely be up there on my list.

]]>I decided to take this experiment to the gym (where else?) and see how I could incorporate red into my workout outfits from entry level to extreme, without holding back on the sweat.
ENTRY LEVEL RED:
Conveniently enough, my most minimal red outfit was for a weight lifting day. Specifically, leg day. This is where I am the most isolated at the gym. I like to put my headphones in, lift heavy, and not talk to anyone. Even my mom! Because yes, we do work out together sometimes… Only kidding though. I do talk to my mom. Exercising no matter how much or little I do, is meditative for me. So when I’m looking to go up in weight, I like to remain focused on breaking a sweat and pushing myself to the next limit. I opted for the Principal Bra in Fire Red, to splash a bit of colour into my “DON’T MESS WITH ME” attitude that I was sporting that day at the gym. I loved the support that I received, and I liked that you could see the bra from the long arm holes of the Vapor Sleeveless Hoodie. It worked with my outfit as I’m holding barbells on my shoulder and exposing my sides for the majority of my workout. The good thing about only showing a little amount of Fire Red, is that you’re in control of how much or little you want to show. I liked that the option was there to be as tame or out there as I wanted to—which on leg day, I like to keep it low key.
GOING STEADY WITH RED:
Okay. In terms of MICHI’s Spring 2018 Earth Red Inversion Leggings, I think it’s safe to say I’m obsessed. I love the versatility from such a bold color. It’s subdued enough, that I found it a perfect choice to go on a run and check out the cherry blossoms at High Park. The mesh inserts are super slimming and breathable, which I found to be very helpful when I was running around the neighbourhood. I felt refreshed and comfortable even after a 5km run. Once I finally stopped to enjoy and smell the flowers (no pun intended), I found the temperature to cool down, and the sun to hide behind some clouds. My temperature immediately climatized as my leggings and Stratosphere Pullover dried from the sweaty run that I had just completed, but felt warm enough from the coverage of the legging and pullover. The Earth Red Inversion Legging was super approachable and easily paired down with a black top like how I styled it in this picture! It was colorful enough for me feel more than comfortable to wear it all day and show off a more colorful personality in my wardrobe than I’m used to.
FULL BLOWN FIRE RED:
Since I was going full fire red, I thought that I would pick a workout to match. I did a boot camp class at my local gym that gets my cardio going, as much as my sweating. To put into perspective, my instructor decided to incorporate skipping rope and high knees—I’m still a little traumatized. But #noregrets! The red was a bold choice, but I got a ton of compliments. The mesh on the Inversion Legging did provide some good ventilation for my legs as I find when I take this class, my entire body sweats. Please refer to image to see that my knee in fact broke in a sweat. I am a huge fan of the contrasting red tones on the Ignite Crop Top as I found that it hid my sweat nicely. I tend to sweat mostly around my ribs. Though visible immediately after my sweaty bootcamp workout, after about 15 minutes of walking home and eating dinner, I was dry with no sweat marks! Keeping true to our theme and inspiration of color in performance technology, red makes us feel energetic, and powerful. It’s unapologetic, and bold. Red is a stand out color, so it was important to know what the hype was all about in the Spring 2018 collection and experience it. In a way, I feel inspired to dive to the more colorful side of living as I was impressed with how red was so much less intimidating than I thought. The reds in Spring 2018 will have you wanting to reach for it every time when you’re torn between red and black. I’ve crossed over!
